Welcome to my 8th grade class this 2020-2021 school year! My name is Mrs. Ashley Bartlett and I will be teaching Literacy (Language Arts) this year and am excited to be your child's teacher this year. I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself and share some information and expectations for my class.
This is my 8th year teaching and my 1st year with Urbandale Middle School. Prior to working at Urbandale, I worked at Brody Middle School in Des Moines, Iowa and Liberty Middle School in Ohio. I received my bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and my master's degree in Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I live with my husband (Danny), dog (Harley), and cat (Fat Kitty). On the weekends, you may find me watching movies with my family and friends (socially distanced), scrapbooking, going to concerts (pre-COVID), and watching Netflix.
I will be doing my part to deliver the instruction in a most effective manner, for I want success for each of my students. I have extremely high expectations for your child and expect that he/she will do his/her best in my class. Completing work on time and with a high level of quality is important for success. I expect all of my students to be successful in my class and in life. To be successful, students need to take responsibility and ownership of their education.
In order to help your child be the most successful, it is imperative that we work together. I encourage you to keep track of your child's homework assignments each night and ask to see his/her planner and/or graded work. Questions such as, "What did you learn today?" or "When is your next test?" help to keep students on track. Communication is extremely important for success. Please use my contact information if there are any questions. I look forward to working with you and your child and making this a successful year!
